Australian WTA sensation Storm Hunter issues injury update as she sets on her road to recovery

World No.3 in doubles tennis, Storm Hunter, has provided an update on her recovery from injury. The Australian player sustained an Achilles injury during her final practice at the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers in Brisbane while representing her country.

An impressive start of the season saw Hunter reach the semifinals of the Australian Open in January and win the doubles WTA 1000 in Dubai with her partner Katerina Siniakova. This great form earned her a big call-up to the national duties last week for the BJK Cup tie against Mexico.

Despite being ranked No.114 in the singles, Hunter’s addition to the Australian team meant a great achievement this year. However, that dream was cut short as she ruptured her Achilles tendon during the final practice hours of the Mexico match in Brisbane.

After a recent surgery, the Aussie shared an update concerning her recovery process on X (formerly known as Twitter). She thanked supporters and pledged to return to her best soon.

Surgery done. Road to recovery starts now. Thank you so much everyone for your support and kind words, it means the world. It’s been a tough few days, with many more to come but I’ll do my best to come back soon I have the best team around me so feeling grateful! Storm Hunter wrote on X
