On the outside, Atlantic City, N.J. Mayor Marty Small and his wife, Atlantic City Public Schools Superintendent La’Quetta Small, seem to have the ideal, upstanding family.

However, prosecutors allege that when the press conferences were over, they viciously abused their young daughter.

Officials at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Monday a series of criminal charges against the couple in connection to a series of incidents between December 2023 and January 2024. Investigators say the victim of the abuse was their daughter who was almost 16. Marty is alleged to have struck his daughter in the head with a broom until she lost consciousness, threatened to “earth slam” her down the stairs and punched her in the legs until they were visibly bruised.

On the other hand, La’Quetta is accused of punching her daughter in the chest, dragging her by her hair and whipping her with a belt. Investigators claim she struck her daughter in the mouth during a disagreement.

Atlantic City High School principal Constance Days-Chapman is facing charges in connection to an accusation that she did not notify the proper authorities when a student reported being abused by her parents in April, per NBC News. It was not specified if that student was the mayor’s daughter.

These revelations come weeks after Marty held a fiery press conference discussing the principal’s arrest and responding to a random police raid of his home. In that conference, he attempted to crush a rumor that his daughter was pregnant with twins by a drug dealer in Stanley Homes village…as she stood silently next to him.

He also denied the claim that he beat her until the unborn fetuses were dead.

Regardless of his defense, Marty still faces charges including second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree terroristic threats, third-degree aggravated assault and disorderly persons simple assault. His wife is charged with disorderly persons simple assault.
