Viral Video Shows a Man Ranting Over His Salary Offer at This Popular Retail Store

Getting a new job offer should be an exciting time. But one man was less than thrilled when he learned the salary of his newly offered position at TJ Maxx. So he turned to TikTok for advice in a now-viral video.

TikTok user @sobeatmyass posted a clip online about a recent interview experience with TJ Maxx. He said his interview went well and he was offered the position. But when he was told the pay was $12 per hour paid weekly, everything changed.

“That’s why the f*ck their clothes are so f*ing cheap, because they’re not paying them f*ing people,” he says in the clip that has received over 600,000 views to date.

Although he knew he couldn’t do a damn thing with the money he was offered, the user says he couldn’t bring himself to decline the position during the phone call with the hiring manager.

“I don’t know why I wasn’t able to tell this man ‘no’ on the phone just now, knowing that I don’t wanna do this f*ing job,” he said. “I couldn’t even wipe my a** for $12 an hour.”

The user then asked for advice on handling the situation, and he got it — with more than 2,000 comments on his post.

Some people echoed his frustration, arguing that making such a low wage is not sustainable considering the rising cost of nearly everything these days.

“These companies are tripping. You can barely even buy a meal somewhere for $12,” someone wrote.

Others encouraged him to take the job despite the disappointing salary, arguing it was better than nothing.

“Do you have a job already? If not, take the job until you find something else. Some money better than no job,” wrote another person in the comments.

And in one of our favorite comments, a users suggested he take advantage of the perks that come along with the position, writing, “yo at least show up day one to find out more about employee discount and try to secure that.”

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the federal minimum wage is currently $7.25 per hour. However, some states and cities around the country pay more. In Ohio, the minimum wage is $10.45 for non-tipped employees, while $16 per hour is the minimum wage in New York City.
