Man, 57, often mistaken for a 27-year-old credits the ‘age-defying’ routine he’s followed for 17 years

A MIDDLE-aged man claims he’s often mistaken for being 30 years younger than his actual age.

But Edson Brandao, 57, hasn’t gone under the knife to maintain his youthful looks.

Instead, he credits his age-defying appearance to his exercise and skincare routine, following a healthy diet and maintaining a positive mindset.

Edson, from Teresina, Piaui, Brazil, was born on the February, 26, 1967 and at the age of 57, he is often mistaken for a 27-year-old.

An author, influencer and digital marketing business owner, Edson said: “I feel full of energy. I don’t feel old at all. I can’t explain it but I feel like I am 30.”

Recent studies have shown that feeling younger may actually benefit your health, as it’s associated with a longer, healthier lifespan and having a younger brain.

Edson said he’s had an interest in fitness and health for most of his life, but was very up and down with his dedication to it.

But when he turned 40 everything changed, as he began to realise the importance of his health and the need to take it seriously.

Inspired by exercise, nutrition and mental health routines he’s picked up via social media, he’s since focused on trying to age as little as possible

Edson has followed the same routine for 17 years, which he says is responsible for his youthful looks.

The author goes to the gym everyday, where he lifts weights and does 40 minutes of cardio.

He also follows a healthy diet, making sure to have plenty of fruit, vegetables and lots of water.

Edson has a strict skincare routine, which includes anti-ageing creams and a clay mask which he uses once a week.

He said: “I do these religiously everyday. Anything is possible no matter your age. You can always change your life for better.”

Edson’s youthful appearance has meant that many people often mistake him for someone 30 years below his age.

Edson said: “Most people are always in shock when I tell them my age, they never believe me.

“I have had people say I look 23, 25 and 30, but I am 57!”

Once on a trip to Oslo, Norway, Edson said he was turned away from a nightclub as he didn’t have identification.

He faced a similar situation at an airport when passport control questioned the validity of his passport as he didn’t look his age.

Whilst he has many people who enjoy and are inspired by his content, he also admits that he gets quite a lot of hate from people who don’t believe he’s 57.

ACCORDING to Edson, age is just a number and it’s how you care for yourself that counts.

He shared 10 tips he swears by to maintain a youthful glow:

  2. Nourish from within: Load up on fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins for a radiant complexion and optimal health.
  3. Get moving: Regular exercise not only keeps the body fit but also boosts mood and energy levels.
  4. Sun protection: Shield skin from harmful UV rays with sunscreen to prevent premature ageing and wrinkles.
  5. Prioritise sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to rejuvenate the body and promote cell regeneration.
  6. Embrace skincare: Establish a skincare routine tailored to your skin type to cleanse, moisturise, and protect it.
  7. Practice stress management: Incorporate relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga to combat stress and promote overall well-being.
  8. Stay social: Surround yourself with positive relationships and engage in activities that bring joy and fulfilment.
  9. Maintain a positive mindset: Cultivate optimism and gratitude to radiate positivity from the inside out.

Edson said: “They ask if I’ve had plastic surgery, botox or use filters, but I’ve never had any surgery.

“I want to find natural ways to look young.

“Some people say I am afraid of being old, but I am not.

“That is a natural process we can’t avoid but I will do my best to keep young.

“I create content to inspire people that anything is possible, no matter your age.”
