Though it is usually worse in the winter, mould thrives in most bathrooms due to the damp air and the amount of lingering bacteria.

As mould can worsen health conditions like asthma, allergies and respiratory infections, you might think that spending hours scrubbing your bathroom is the solution.

However, one cleaning whizz has revealed that they use £5 spray to easily prevent black mould.

They shared the thrifty tip on Facebook, after a user revealed that they’d been struggling to get rid of the mould and mildew in their shower.

Uploading a photo to the Mrs Hinch’s cleaning tips and tricks group, they showed how the black mould had stained the grout between their tiles.

It had even yellowed in places and the user was left struggling to know what to do.

Having tried to scrub it clean with an old toothbrush and bleach, they begged the group for help.

In the caption, they wrote: “This is really embarrassing to post but I need some tips and advice on how to make my shower shiny again…please it’s so gross.”

Thankfully, the group had an easy solution for the concerned cleaner – HG Mould Remover spray.

“HG Mould remover, spray and leave it overnight,” commented one user, with another adding: “100% HG mould remover.”

A third agreed, writing: “I used this and it came up brilliant.”

Packed with grime busting bleaching agents, it’s no wonder that this powerful spray came highly recommended.

Even better, you can find it at larger supermarkets, DIY and discount store with shop like B&M regularly having it on shelves.

You won’t have to spend a small fortune on this cleaning product either, as you can currently find a 500ml bottle for just £5.25 at Tesco.

If you are still struggling to banish the black mould in your home, there were plenty of other tried and tested products in the comments.

“Astonish mould and mildew remover sprayed on and left overnight. Shower it off in morning. Repeat if necessary. This really does work,” suggested a fourth.

Meanwhile, some stated that the cleaner should use Kilrock gel as part of a multi-step process.

“First step: Kilrock limescale remover spray. Spray, leave a whole, scrub grout etc. RINSE,” stated a fifth, adding that this should then be followed up with Dettol Mould Spray.

They then wrote: “Repeat as necessary. The orange is limescale. The black is mould.

“Don’t mix products. One at a time.”
