A DOG owner was shocked to discover their dog’s fur patterns were an allergic reaction.

After a change, the fur pattern cleared up completely.

The pet owner (@401express) shared their doggie discovery in a viral TikTok video.

They explained that for four years, they had fed their dog chicken.

Though they thought their dog’s brown fur stains were its natural coloring, four years later, they realized it wasn’t.

“I fed my dog a chicken diet for four years, only to discover that the brown stains were actually a result of his allergy to chicken,” they said.

After switching their dog to a new diet, the brown streaks cleared up.

“Just take a look at him on his beef diet,” they said.

The happy dog smiled widely, showing off his white snout free of brown.

Pet owners agreed that food allergies were often difficult to detect.

Many revealed that an allergy to chicken was much more common than they’d thought.

“So many dogs are allergic to chicken,” said one commenter.

“Chicken is the most common allergy for dogs too,” said another.

“You should see what a chicken allergy did to my dog’s neck. It can be awful,” said a third.

One revealed they noticed similar changes in their dog after they took it off chicken.

“My dog’s constant ear infections went away after taking him off chicken,” they said.

“So many dogs are allergic to poultry!” said one.

“I always feed my dogs beef, fish, or vegetarian meals and they are so healthy.”

“Make sure you continue to rotate the protein,” said another.

“My old pup first became allergic to chicken, then eventually beef…. Learned the hard way to rotate.”

“You can also feed a hydrolyzed diet,” suggested one commenter.

“Generally more expensive but the proteins are broken down so they don’t cause allergies.”
