I got dress-coded in the LIBRARY at baby reading time – it’s ‘inappropriate’ for a woman pushing 40 to show some midriff
A WOMAN was left stunned after being dress-coded in a library.
Hilary Flips, a mum-of-two was taking her kids to to story time and while she didn’t see anything wrong with her outfit, one librarian did.

Taking to social media, the mum fumed about the experience she had just had and showed the outfit that had got her into trouble.
“I just got dress-coded at our local library at baby story time,” the mum began.
She recalled that she was running after her kids when the librarian approached her and told her she should ‘know better’.
Hilary assumed she was complaining about her kids running around and apologised for their behaviour.

However, it turns out it was her outfit the employee found offensive.
“No you’re outfit,” she responded.

The mum then showed viewers the exact outfit she wore which included a cute button-down chunky cardigan which was slightly cropped and high-waist mom jeans from Topshop.
She then realised what the apparent ‘problem ‘ was.

“I realised it’s because it’s a little bit cropped,” Hilary explained
“And when I carry my giant one year old, it like raises up and shows maybe like one inch of my like, mummy belly with its cute little stretched out belly button.
“And apparently, apparently that’s inappropriate, to show any midriff when you’re like edging into 40.

“And news flash, I guess I disagree.”
The clip posted to her TikTok account @calmlychaoticmom has since gone viral with over 1,2million views and 58k likes.
“Pardon me while I continue to wear cropped tops with high-waisted pants until I’m a grandmother. Might even throw my bellybutton ring back in for extra flair,” she captioned the post.
People were quick tot take to the comments of the post and many were baffled by the woman getting dress-coded for her outfit.
One person wrote: “My daughter has taken to saying, “What an odd thing to say out loud.” To people like that. You look fabulous. Never mind her.”
Another commented: “I’ve been a librarian for 13 years and this is WILD. Our unspoken rule is “come as you are!””
“Your outfit is adorable. I’m so over the mum-shaming,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “That is insane. As someone who works at a public library, this infuriates me. So uncalled for and absolutely unnecessary. Your outfit is super cute!!”
“I’d wear the same outfit next week!! You look amazing!!! Like others have said it’s says more about her than your choice in outfit,” claimed a fifth.

You can then use this very simple equation: cup size – band size.
For example, if your bust measures 36 inches and your band measures 34, you would be a 34B.

- Two-inch difference = B
- Three-inch difference = C, and so on
