‘Aiming for 20 Grand Slams isn’t something that I, Rafa, or Novak did,’ Roger Federer opens up about the unreal pressure on young players amidst Carlos Alcaraz-Jannik Sinner‘s brewing on-court rivalry

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has listed the challenge that beckons future superstars of tennis like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner .

As men’s tennis undergoes transition with the Big 3 almost out of action, Federer was asked about which players have the potential to pull off as many Grand Slam title wins as the Big 3.

To this, the 43-year-old had a long answer where he explained everything. Federer talked about the challenges these young players face.

The Swiss legend highlighted that players like Alcaraz and Sinner are already feeling pressure to win more than 20 Grand Slam titles, which none of the players of the Big 3 faced during their time.

I don’t like to put the pressure on these players because honestly aiming for 20 [major victories] was not something I did, Rafa did, or Novak did. Of course, you have the players that you think are going to win multiple Slams. Roger Federer said in an interview to GQ.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion admitted that there will be players who will win multiple Slams,, but whether they will win more than 20 is something that cannot be predicted now. Federer sees Alcaraz and Sinner carrying the baton.

Somebody has to win Slams and naturally, they’re going to win them nicely and do it perfectly and they’re going to be the ones carrying the game and become the superstars of our sports, which some are already announcing themselves to do: [Carlos] Alcaraz, [Jannik] Sinner, and so forth. Roger Federer stated

Roger Federer feels tennis will get its next superstar in the next two to three years

After listing the challenges and the potential players who can become the future superstars of men’s tennis, Roger Federer talked about the timeline that will decide who is going to reign supreme. The Swiss maestro feels that the next two to three years will be crucial.

Federer claims that one name cannot be put forward at this moment because there are a few players who are working on their game.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion feels the good players are constantly working to figure out a way to beat the best in business, and hence it will take time to decide the next poster boy of tennis.

And there’s a lot of momentum right now also to see who’s going to be the next guy. So I think the next two to three years, they’re going to give us a really good idea because I think there are good players right now, but I still think they are recalibrating their game to understand: Okay, how can I beat the best in the business on their best surface?” Roger Federer said

It is worth mentioning that, apart from Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev is also on the hunt. The Russian ace is making it to the finals and semifinals and pushing the two best players on the tour to their limits. Holger Rune is another interesting prospect who excites tennis pundits.
