Major international trophy rescued by 19 ‘law-breaking’ firemen after it was dropped in pond BEFORE final even played

EMERGENCY SERVICES were reportedly called to rescue a rugby trophy in Spain.

But the trophy somehow fell into a nearby pond and could not be retrieved by those involved in the shoot.

Emergency services were called and six vehicles and 19 firefighters contributed to the rescue, according to Marca.

Two divers were drafted in and were successful in finding the trophy.

However, those involved in the operation are understood to have broken rules laid down by the park service.

One regulation states that interventions in park ponds can only be carried out at the surface level – unless human life is in danger.

Emergency services in Madrid reportedly claimed the operation was a drill – but reports in Spain claim the exercise was conducted with the aim of retrieving a trophy.

The World Rugby Sevens Series Men’s tournament is currently being led by Argentina ahead of Ireland and Fiji.

The grand final takes place in Madrid between May and June and will be competed for by the teams that finish from 1st-8th place.
