‘Trump rallies are evolving into a church’

As former President Donald Trump “ramps up his attacks” on the judges overseeing his legal cases and their families, “experts warn that faith in the legal system is at stake,” The Washington Post says on Tuesday’s front page. The New York Times, meanwhile, says “Trump rallies are evolving into a church,” especially near the end, when Trump’s audience becomes “his congregation” and he “their pastor,” evoking “an evangelical altar call” where people attending a service traditionally “come forward to commit to their savior.” President Joe Biden, The Boston Globe says, is starting to pepper his own speeches with “personal barbs” to “tweak Trump.”

“Gen Z picks up the toolbelt,” The Wall Street Journal says, exploring why “more young workers go into skilled trades amid higher pay, skepticism about college.”
