Watch: Holger Rune and Patrick Mouratoglou engage in rock-paper-scissors before the French coach trains his apprentice in clay

Mouratoglou often shares his coaching plans and tips with his online fans, and in the recent one, he spoke about the importance of such games, as he played and lost a couple against Rune.

He uploaded a video of the said mini-games on his Instagram. After losing a classic game of rock-paper-scissors, the two played two other interesting games; the Djoko game and the square game. Mouratoglou lost to his apprentice in both rounds and had to do a couple of pushups as punishment.

Mini games are often part of good practice sessions, for many reasons I’ve already explained in my videos.  Patrick Mouratoglou via Instagram

Nonetheless, it was a good practice session for Rune, who needed something new. In the past, the Dane has had success with his current coach.

Holger Rune and Patrick Mouratoglou face a major setback with recent loss in Miami

Over the last two years, the duo have had their share of setbacks but also had glory in the form of Rune’s first Master’s title. Rune also became the first player to earn five top 10 wins at an event other than the Nitto ATP Finals.

However, they split in August 2023 when they couldn’t replicate their initial success. Rune always maintained that the two were working on a short-term project of only 3 months, however, it was extended to 6 months.

Now, they are back to try to achieve something bigger. However, the slump continues for Rune, who recently faced an embarrassing loss in the Miami Open. Blaming it on fatigue, Rune lost the match as questions about his form rose rapidly. With more tournaments yet to be played, all eyes will be on the youngster and his performance in the future.
