Cricket World Cup 2023 top wicket takers: Mohammed Shami and Adam Zampa set for final battle

Mohammed Shami bagged his third five-wicket haul of the 2023 Cricket World Cup to rocket up the top bowler standings.

A superb performance in India’s semi-final win over New Zealand, bagging a total of seven wickets, on Wednesday put him past Australia spinner Adam Zampa – having gone for less than half the runs.

Zampa did not add to his tally as he went wicketless in the semi-final against South Africa, but he remains in touch heading into the final between India and Australia.

Dilshan Madushanka, who took a five-wicket haul against India, set the pace earlier in the tournament with 21 wickets, but Sri Lanka’s group-stage exit ensured he could not compete at the top heading into the knockout stages.

Gerald Coetzee shone for South Africa throughout the tournament, but he could not lead his country to a semi-final win.
