If the powers that be have their way, we’ll all be piloting electric vehicles as soon as possible. Whether or not that actually ends up happening is anybody’s guess but we posed the question to all you petrolheads anyway. What EV would you buy if you had to make the transition right now? Here are your top five answers.
5. GMC Hummer EV SUV
Simple and straightforward, Commentz123 called this “baby right here cool as,”… something we’ll let you guess. There’s no question that the GMC Hummer EV SUV is a striking vehicle.

It also fits in with the malicious compliance attitude exhibited by many who scoffed at the idea that they might be forced to drive an EV one day.
4. Polestar 2
This one surprised me as the Polestar 2 feels like a bit of a dark horse in the market. It doesn’t have the superstar EV status of Tesla and it doesn’t have the gigantic corporate powerhouse of a GM or Ford behind it. Nevertheless, it’s a competitive EV with its own unique design and style. It received twice as many votes as the GMC too.
3. Chevrolet Bolt
Practicality earns the Chevy Bolt a spot on the podium with one more vote than the Polestar. We’ll let LetsGetReal explain it: “It’s like 20 grand. If you have GM discount, take $7,500 tax credit plus state tax credit… that’s the cheapest EV out there.” Indeed, the low cost is attractive. Add to that GM’s available Super Cruise tech and it’s easy to see why it’s on this list.
2. Tesla Model Y
This list almost escaped without a single Tesla on the board but the most popular EV couldn’t be held at bay. The Model Y is the best-selling EV on the planet and so it’s no surprise that seven of you voted for it (in addition to the submission itself) as the car you’d pick. It was only a single vote behind our winner.
1. Audi e-tron GT
There are no cars on this list that can truly match the Audi e-tron GT for what it offers. It’s quick, it looks snazzy, and it’s built like a German vault. Of course, it probably should be considering that it starts at over $100,000. It’s the car that most of you would choose if the end of combustion cars was today.
