Dramatic footage shows part of Chicago-bound plane’s landing gear snap off during touchdown
A dramatic emergency landing Sunday caught on video shows part of a plane’s landing gear snap off during touchdown in Europe.
No one was injured when the plane landed at Luxembourg Airport, according to local media reports.
The 747 cargo plane bound for Chicago O’Hare International returned to the runway shortly after take-off when its landing gear failed to retract, the Daily Mail reported.
The touchdown
Footage shows the aircraft touchdown on the tarmac when a part of the plane’s wheel detaches and bounces into the air.
Smoke is then seen billowing from the plane.
The company that operates the plane, Cargolux, called the landing a ‘significant landing incident’ in a statement to the Daily Mail, saying the plane also had to dump fuel.
