A vigil was held in Galway, Ireland, on Thursday, January 13 for a young woman who was fatally assaulted earlier that week.
Local media reported that Ashling Murphy, a 23-year-old school teacher, was exercising along a popular canal-side route in Tullamore, Co Offaly, on January 12 when she was attacked and killed.
The attack happened at around 4 pm, according to police.
Video filmed by Kate Brennan-Harding shows a vigil held for Murphy in Galway’s Eyre Square on Thursday evening.
Mourners lit candles and laid flowers, while several speakers addressed the crowd and music was played. Organisers said hundreds gathered to pay their respects, according to local media.
