Something Big Is Happening In ‘Fortnite’ Right Now

It appears that Epic Games will be making lots more changes lots more frequently to Fortnite in Season 4. The Marvel-themed season, which has introduced characters like Thor and Groot and She-Hulk, is off to a great start and it looks like things aren’t slowing down anytime soon.

New locations are being added frequently to the map, including Ant-Man’s Manor in today’s small update. And now something big is happening.

The Stark Beacons that are placed in a circle across the north-eastern portion of the map have been dormant since the start of the season. That changed this morning when the beacons lit up, shooting beams of pink and blue energy into the sky, as you can see in the screenshot at the top of this post.

Here’s what the beacons look like up close:

It’s likely that we’ll see lots of different things like this all season long, culminating in a massive live event—doubly massive since we didn’t get one at the end of season 3.

I’m betting it has something to do with the rifts and the whole weird Fortnite meta-verse, or it’s a force-field or some kind of weapon that will be used to stop Galactus. Speaking of which, expect to spot Galactus in the sky at some point, getting larger throughout the season similar to the comet from way back in Chapter 1, Season 3.

We should also expect lots more heroes, heroic Mythic powers/weapons/items and new points of interest. By the end of Season 4 I suspect things will look a lot different on the Fortnite map, and Marvel superheroes will be running amok. Meanwhile, having said Mythic powers will be essential to winning a match—already having Doctor Doom’s items make all the difference in the final stages of a match.

What do you think will happen at the end of this season? What do these beacons mean? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook.
