Kid Rock tied the knot this weekend.
The lucky lady? Country music icon Loretta Lynn.
Now, here’s the rest of the story. Lynn, 88, watched her son Ernest, 69, renew his vows with wife Crystal over the weekend.
“It was beautiful and everything it should be,” Lynn wrote on Instagram. “Marriage isn’t always easy — heck it’s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I’m so proud of them and wish them years of happiness.”
The trio bumped into Kid Rock and, well, one thing led to another.
“Things got crazy,” Lynn wrote. “We’ve always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”
Lynn, who was named CMT’s Artist of a Lifetime in 2018, added a number of hilarious tags to her post, including #gottahavesomefun, #88andfeelinggreat, #tabloidfodder and #cougar. Oliver Lynn, her husband, died in 1998. They’d been married for nearly 50 years.
Granddaughter Tayla Lynn also posted about the “wedding” on Instagram, joking it was a “hillbilly soirée.”
“Now you must understand how close Kid and Memaw have gotten,” she wrote. “Like they adore each other. They joke around all the time about getting married and saying to heck with the rest of em.
“Memaw and Kid both become giddy. Like school kids. They were so caught off guard but both so happy.”
Kid Rock was briefly married to actress Pamela Anderson. The two tied the knot in 2006 and split a year later.
