Pierce Brosnan is remembering his daughter Charlotte, who died 7 years ago due to ovarian cancer.
The former James Bond took to Instagram on Monday to wish a happy birthday to his 5-year-old granddaughter, Marley May Cassandra, and to honor Charlotte, who died at age 41.
“Here’s looking at you kid,” Brosnan captioned the photo. “In remembrance of Charlotte and with happy birthday wishes for my darling Marley May.”
Brosnan added that his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, took the photo, which featured him lounging outdoors.
Brosnan first shared the news of Charlotte’s death in a statement to People in 2013.
“On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer,” Brosnan said. “She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean.”
He added: “Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon.”
At the time, Brosnan also thanked people for sending “heartfelt condolences.”
Brosnan shares son Sean with his first wife, Cassandra Harris, a former Bond girl he married in 1980. Charlotte and her brother Christopher were Cassandra’s children from a previous marriage and, when their father died in 1986, Brosnan adopted them.
Cassandra died at age 43 in 1991, also from ovarian cancer.
Brosnan also has two children with his second wife, Keely: Dylan, 23, and Paris, 19.
He stars alongside Will Ferrell in the film “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,” now streaming on Netflix.
