THE city of Leicester WILL stay in lockdown the Health Secretary confirmed.
No 10 had been concerned about a recent spike in cases in the area, with questions raised about a second shutdown.
It means pubs, restaurants and hairdressers in Leicester will remain closed for two more weeks following a series of local outbreaks.
The outbreak has seen dozens of fresh cases admitted to the area’s hospitals.
There have been 658 cases in the area in the two weeks up to June 16.
Today, Boris Johnson is to deliver a speech in Dudley on how the government will help the UK recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Prime Minister is expected to reveal a £5 billion deal to create jobs and pump cash into building projects.
