Mummy blogger Clemmie Hooper DELETES Instagram following backlash over trolling her friends and husband

CLEMMIE Hooper – aka Mother of Daughters – appears to have deleted her Instagram account after admitting to trolling her friends and family last month.

Using a fake profile on the Tattle Life gossip site – which is used to discuss influencers – Clemmie is thought to have been posting cruel comments about loved ones under the name AliceInWanderLust.

Posting on her Instagram stories last month, the mum-of-four admitted to having trolled mates in a bid to defend herself from negative comments made by trolls on the site.

The statement read: “I know there are some rumours circulating and I want to take the opportunity to explain.

“Earlier this year, I became aware of a website that had thousands of comments about my family and I.

“Reading them made me feel extremely paranoid and affected me much more than I knew at the time.

“I decided without telling anyone else that I would make an anonymous account so that this group of people would believe I was one of them, so that I could maybe change their opinions from the inside to defend my family and I.”

Clemmie admitted this soon escalated into insulting her fellow bloggers and even labelling her husband Simon aka Father of Daughters – who boasts over 2 million followers – a “class A t***” in an attempt to maintain her disguise.

She continued: “It became all consuming and it grew bigger than I knew how to handle. When the users started to suspect it was me I made the mistake of commenting about others.

“I regret it all and am deeply sorry – I know this has caused a lot of pain.

“Undoubtedly I got lost in this online world and the more I became engrossed in the negative commentary, the more the situation escalated.

“Engaging in this was a huge mistake. I take full responsibility for what’s happened and I am just so sorry for the hurt I have caused to everyone involved including my friends and family.”

The midwife and influencer is believed to have been exposed after users spotted that she and her alias were both in St Lucia.

When rumours began to circulate, Clemmie is believed to have phoned all of those she had trolled to explain the situation – but pleaded with them not to reveal that she was behind the account.

The 35-year-old admitted her actions after fellow mummy blogger Laura Rutherford, who had been targeted by her, addressed the “betrayal of trust” online.

She wrote: “It’s not even about the words that have been said. It’s the betrayal of trust. To say I’m hurting is an understatement.

“What gives you the right to play with people’s mental health?

“For so long I’ve had to grin and bear the derogatory comments, the angst of what people think of me, where the malice has come from.

“You’ve looked me in the eye and asked me how I’m doing when I’ve been at my lowest. How dare you?”

Days after the revelation, husband Simon Hooper, 35, revealed in an Instagram post that he refuses to “defend”  his wife’s “bad choices” which have left him “angry and sad”.

“Frankly, I’m in a crap position as I only really have 2 options,” he captioned a photo of his dog walking in the woods.

“1). to stay silent to protect my wife and knowing that if I do, the silence will be deafening or 2). to comment on something I had no knowledge of.

“It’s not a fun place to be. And yet fun is what I [came] to Instagram for.

“I don’t take myself or life too seriously, but when something like this happens I have to acknowledge it and in all honesty, I’m feeling both angry and a bit sad.

“I can’t condone or fully understand why Clemmie did what she did.

So, some people in this corner of the internet may want to know my response to what’s happened over the last couple of days. Frankly, I’m in a crap position as I only really have 2 options – 1). to stay silent to protect my wife & knowing that if I do, the silence will be deafening or 2). to comment on something I had no knowledge of. It’s not a fun place to be. And yet fun is what I can to Instagram for. I don’t take myself or life too seriously, but when something like this happens I have to acknowledge it and in all honesty, I’m feeling both angry & a bit sad. I can’t condone or fully understand why Clemmie did what she did.  Make no mistake about it – she made some bad choices – I just wish she could have spoken to me about this before it all got too much. Actually, If we’re wishing for things, I wish it had never happened in the first place. I’ve seen first hand what 3 years of being attacked online can do to a person and the dark places it can drive you to – I guess whereas I can happily ignore it all, she couldn’t & ended up getting lost. To be clear, I’m not here to defend my wife’s actions or provide excuses because I have none. What I do know is that online actions have real world consequences – this has impacted our family & it will take some time to recover. That said, away from these squares, the world keeps spinning, the leaves are turning & we have 4 girls that need their parents. I’ll be here tomorrow doing what I do.

The mum has not posted on Instagram since, but many have been voicing their views on her comments.

Now, it seems the mummy blogger has removed her profile entirely – although it is currently unknown whether this is merely temporarily.
