Mum gets death threats from trolls after posing up her kids for zombie-inspired Halloween photoshoot

ABUSIVE online trolls have chillingly told a mum to “die in your sleep” after taking spine-tingling pics of her kids in Halloween costume.

American photographer Carlee Thomas shared images of her little ‘horrors’, 12-month-old Coraline and October, four, online.

But she was left upset after more than 200 strangers responded in a negative way, suggesting that she should kill herself for being a “Devil worshipper”.

Carlee, 25, of Decatur in Alabama, thought that with Halloween just around the corner, it was an ideal time to carry out a horror-themed photoshoot with her youngsters.

While it’s something the mum does every year, she said she rarely posts the images online.

After sharing the spooky snaps of her ‘Zombie Kids’ on Facebook, her grisly snaps quickly went viral, racking up over 14,000 shares and 5,000 comments.

Carlee’s inbox also filled up with hundreds of messages in response to the post, including more than 200 shocking messages from angry people.

One outraged person commented: “Your gonna burn in hell. What’s wrong wit you. You should kill yourself [sic].”

Another hit out by saying, “take that s*** down. No one wants to see dead babies. You’re a waste of space.

“How you can be a mother when good people can’t have children is beyond me. Those poor babies.”

And one fumed: “I saw your f***ing dead baby pictures… R you sick?

“Who does that to such a innocent blessing. I hope someone takes your kids away b4 they become f***ed up in the head from u. Devil worshipper.”

Among those wishing for her death was a person who chillingly told Carlee: “Die in your sleep the world and them children would be better off.”

A shocked Carlee said: “I knew that posting them online was a bit risky, as it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I never thought people would be that angry about them.

“I started doing horror photography back in 2016 when my oldest daughter was a baby. We do horror shoots throughout the year, but I don’t normally post them.

“I was a bit nervous about it, but I showed my friend and she said how good they were. So I thought why not, it’s October, let’s do it.

“I never expected it would go viral like it did. And then the hate messages started rolling in, I got a minimum of 200 angry and hateful messages.

“I had people tell me I should kill myself, that they hoped I’d die in my sleep, that I’m a bad mother and should have my kids taken away from me.

“People were so angry about it. I don’t know why people can’t just scroll on.”

EDITING

The zombie-themed shoot shows little Coraline sitting in a bucket full of ‘blood’ made of red jelly and melted chocolate, while holding a fake plastic brain – while October also has some of the ‘blood’ smeared on her face while striking a scary pose.

The mum explained: “The actual blood part is strawberry [jelly], water and chocolate syrup. It tastes like chocolate-covered cherries, so both the girls love it.

“The blood on their faces is a mix of strawberry syrup, chocolate syrup and some thickening agents so that it looks more realistic. The brain is plastic, and I painted it to make it look more real.”

Plus, “most of the horror effects” are down to editing the photos, to give the kids glowing green eyes, she added.

Carlee had to explain to concerned people that she hadn’t put contact lenses in her kids’ eyes.

She refuses to let the haters scare her off posting similar pics in future, declaring: “I’m not going to take the photos down. I don’t let their negativity bother me, and I wish those people all the best.

“They might need to find a hobby or something instead of taking time out of their day to send hateful messages on the internet.”

Her experience echoes that of another mum in America, Bobbi Rylant, 26, whose blood-splattered images of her two children were compared to an “abortion” scene.

Internet trolls claimed that her children were unsafe and should be taken away from her.

Like Carlee, Bobbi had created the special blood effects using cherry soda drink, and strawberry and chocolate syrup mixed together.
