Conor McGregor took shots at adversary Khabib Nurmagomedov and former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi, urging both to stop “bitching” in a social media in the early hours of Saturday morning.
While addressing a rumor that was circulating regarding a boxing bout with Paulie Malignaggi—Malignaggi denied the reports in an interview with the Daily Express—McGregor went back to the face off he shared with the boxer ahead of his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Aug. 2017. At the time, Malignaggi confronted McGregor about images that were released from their sparring sessions, which he felt portrayed their sessions in a more favorable light for the Dubliner.
McGregor posted the video of their interaction in front of the gathered media along with a long caption that read the following:
“Let the record show. I like Paulie Malinaggi. Here is a confrontation between us regarding a picture he was upset about. Yes you heard that right. A picture. I told him here to his face. “Don’t be bitching.” Common knowledge I would think for a fighting man. Don’t be a bitch, bitching,” the post began.
McGregor goes on to say that “Don’t be bitching” was what he said to “The Eagle” at the end of the third round, the same time in which he was quoted as saying, “It’s only business”. McGregor claims that it was Nurmagomedov’s constant complaints to the referee that led him to say it.
“The same thing I said to Khabib at the end of round 3. My round,” the post continues. “Don’t be bitching! Every single round bitching to the referee. He was even bitching in the fourth round from mount position. It baffled me.”
The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion goes on to explain why he believes he had more grounds to complain that the champion.
“If anyone should have been saying anything to the referee, it should have been me in that 1st round. That round he held onto my legs for four minutes straight. With zero activity. But a fight is a fight who gives a fuck. Crying to the referee like a proper bitch. I was trying to dig my fingers into his Adams Apple. Many individuals in the fight business, I have learned lately, are absolute bitches. I know you’s are broke boys. But don’t be broke bitches.”
A few hours later, Nurmagomedov appeared to respond to McGregor by posting two images; one of McGregor tapping to a rear-naked choke and the other of him landing a punch on the ground Irishman.
He captioned the post: “You will live with this shame all your life, bi…”
