The nominations for the 2019 Grammy Awards have just been unveiled.
Leading the pack is Kendrick Lamar, who earned a total of eight nominations thanks to his work on the Black Panther soundtrack; he was nominated for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
Drake received a total of seven nominations, while Cardi B and Childish Gambino both earned five. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper also picked up four nominations for the song “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, although the film’s soundtrack itself wasn’t eligible, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The nominees for Record of the Year are “I Like It” (Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin), “The Joke” (Brandi Carlile), “This Is America” (Childish Gambino), “God’s Plan” (Drake), “Shallow” (Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper), “All The Stars” (Kendrick Lamar and SZA), “Rockstar” (Post Malone featuring 21 Savage), and “The Middle” (Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey), while the nominees for Album of the Year are “Invasion Of Privacy” (Cardi B), “By The Way, I Forgive You” (Brandi Carlile), “Scorpion” (Drake), “H.E.R.” (H.E.R.), “Beerbongs & Bentleys” (Post Malone), “Dirty Computer” (Janelle Monáe), “Golden Hour” (Kacey Musgraves), and “Black Panther: The Album, Music From And Inspired By” (Various Artists).
Meanwhile, the Best New Artist nominees are Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, Greta Van Fleet, H.E.R., Dua Lipa, Margo Price, Bebe Rexha, and Jorja Smith. Read the full list of nominees at Variety. Brendan Morrow
